Back to the Basics

There is something to be said for doing things old school. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the newest and coolest technological gadget that comes along. When it comes to family, there is no "fast track" way of spending good quality time with the family. Family doesn't have to mean you and the kids, it can also mean you and your spouse, close friends, or significant other(s).
How much communication really goes on when sitting in front of a game system, battling it out in a game of Madden?

When sitting around the kitchen or dining room table, playing a board game or a card game, the conversations flows naturally and effortlessly. There are no TV distractions, cell phones are turned off, snacks and sodies are passed about. The stage is set for a great opportunity to re-engage with the family. It ranks right up there with family dinners.. another important throw back that we embrace.
Aside from card games, a few of our favorite games are Acquire(kind of a cross between Chess and Risk), Rummycube, Scrabble and of course, Monopoly.

We sometimes wonder why we feel so stressed and harried, take a step back and get a good board game going around the table.. watch how quickly your stress level decreases.

I'm so thankful that you understand the importance of the simply things when it comes to family.

I am blessed each time we sit down to a family dinner or a hard-hitting game of Monopoly.

I'm cool with the basics!
